STAR SLINGER ::: www.starslinger.net
24 year old Manchester beatsmith Star Slinger has shot to worldwide recognition in a startlingly short amount of time. He has already been named by the Guardian as "best new act of the year by miles", with his recent track Mornin' one of the most popular songs across music blogs the world over. He counts the likes of Diplo, Donald Glover and Benji B amongst the fans of his melodic, chopped up beats, with pitched up soul vocals sliced around complex drum machine patterns and swathes of vintage synths. The talent didn’t go unnoticed and SS has since officially been hired to remix notorious acts. The list includes Gold Panda, Childish Gambino, Deadelus, Washed Out, Broken Social Scene, The Go! Team & The Morning Benders

“combines the hyper soul sampling of Kanye West or Dipset producers Heatmakerz with a bubbling psychedelia reminiscent of J Dilla’s spacier moments” - Pitchfork
"booty LSD" according to Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino

SHLOHMO ::: http://www.myspace.com/shlomoshun
L.A. native Henry Laufer, the 21-year-old producer better known as Shlohmo, is a lo-fi beat junkie and field-recording enthusiast. Laufer grew up listening to “stuff like DJ Shadow, Amon Tobin, M83 stuff with some sort of cinematic vision.” He started making beats when he was 14, but “didn’t really do it with any sort of purpose until I was like 17 or 18. That was also around the time he and his friends, already fans of Flying Lotus, discovered Low End Theory. Shlohmo has rocketed onto our radar screen in recent months with his lo-fi, psychedelic mix of abstract hip-hop, bouncy synth-funk, breezy trip-hop, and what sounds like lost Mo’ Wax gems from an alternate future.

His tracks swarm from dirty textures, strange sounds and obscured samples. It’s not hip-hop what you hear, but the echoes are clearly there. Check out his new album, Bad Vibes.

SHIGETO (Live Set w/ Drums )::: http://iamshigeto.com/
Zach Saginaw's (Shigeto) body of work has grown over the last few years to the tune of several EPs on Moodgadget as Shigeto and with A Setting Sun, a pair of EPs under the alias Frank Omura (another family-name reference), and remixes for Worst Friends, Praveen & Benoit, Tycho, Mux Mool, Charles Trees, A Setting Sun, Beautiful Bells, Shlohmo, and more. The Semi-Circle EP will be his first release with Ghostly International; the full-length Full Circle was released in November of 2010. Semi-Circle is a fiercely independent work of art, nominally indebted to instrumental hip-hop but, like Zach, straddling many worlds at once. Cool shades of ambient music, stuttering early IDM, dubstep sub-bass, and jazz melodicism color Shigeto’s palette, which he wields with a painterly attention to detail.

Beat-driven but given to richly textured sound design, rhythmically fractured but melodically sumptuous, Shigeto’s music is a bridge between the past and present, bringing the artist face to face with a creative legacy that spans decades.

TIME WHARP ::: http://timewharp.com/
XLR8R: “When we think about the burgeoning tape culture that’s been really picking up steam as of late, slow-brewing bass music is certainly not the first sound that comes to mind (nor the second, third, or fourth for that matter), and yet here we are. From a forthcoming full-length album by Atlanta’s Time Wharp (a.k.a. Patrick Loggins) for the Wonder Beard Tapes label, “mandelbrotset” is a post-dubsteppy slice of click-clack rhythms, swelling synth melodies, and ghostly vocal manipulations served up with a heavy wash of lo-bit fuzz.”
Altered Zones: “Built on a series of ridiculously over-the-top sawtooth waves, a stumbling drum kit, and a sonically abused jazz chord progression, “Cuspcake” is psychedelic lounge music, somewhere between Animal Collective and UK bass/dubstep producers like Velour or Optimum.”
Rose Quartz: “This Atlanta producer’s effervescent jams are pretty fucking impressive for the way he piles electronic textures on top of each other and still manages to nail this totally effortless-sounding luxuriant vibe.”

Time Wharp recently performed with Flying Lotus on 9.9.11 in Boston (sick, right?)...watch out for this guy!
