by Jason and Sabrina Weil

This interview took place at the Westend Warehouse, where Solid Productions hosted Presence on May 15, 1999. Watching us conduct this interview is Kelley, who proclaims she is Thee-o's biggest fan.

Thee-o at PresenceLunar: Could you give us a little bit of background on you got involved in the scene, and what you are doing now?

Thee-o: Basically, I've always loved music. Ever since I was a young child I can remember taking one of those portable records players with me everywhere. I guess I was kinda born to do this. I studied music throughout school...I was actually going to be an opera singer before I started doing this. I've always been djing throughout the years. I started djing when I was 13 years old, so basically I ended up — back then there was just hip hop and house, and I ended up finding the rave scene in '91...and then just immersed myself into it and saw how dj's took control of parties. I said, "That's what I want to do. That's how I want to live my life."

Lunar: What do you do mostly these days? Do you play out a lot or are you involved in other things like producing or record stores...

Thee-o: I'm starting to work on tracks. I do have my own production company called Biohazard Productions. We have a Web site [] which kinda explains that ... And I spin out pretty much every weekend, if not in L.A. then somewhere outside. I've probably been to about 20 states and just keep plugging away.

Lunar: You were born and raised in L.A.?

Thee-o: Born and raised and love it there.

Kelley: He's the man! [we all laugh] Oh yeah! Christian [of Solid Productions] said, "Who do you want me to bring here," and I said, "Thee-o!"

Thee-o: We're going to have fun tonight. Definitely.

Lunar: Do you get to play out much in the Southeast?

Thee-o: I was actually supposed to be in Florida last night, but that didn't pan out. I'm hoping to do more here. It has a really good scene. Jennifer Walker...I've been friends with her before she started doing parties. She was the first person who brought me out here so hopefully things will kinda escalate.

Lunar: Where do you see youself in five, ten years? What are your plans with what you want to do with your music?

Thee-o: I just want to keep doing it. I don't really think that far ahead. I live day to day and whatever happens, happens. I work really hard, and I'm just happy to be here at this point where I'm able to spin and make a good living out of it and actually make people happy with it...and that's all that really matters to me.

Kelley: He's in it for the music. He's good!

Lunar: Do you have any questions, Kelley?

Kelley: Are you happy to be here tonight?

Thee-o: Oh, definitely, definitely! I'm happy to be here. I look forward to finally getting on those tables.

Lunar: We've heard so many good things about you from all kinds of people.

Thee-o: Well, I hope I can live up to their reputations.

Kelley: Oh, he will.

Thee-o: [laughing] She has more faith in me than I do.

Lunar: Is there anything you would like the people of Atlanta to know about you?

Thee-o: If I'm here come see me. Have a good time and enjoy yourselves. I will definitely be enjoying myself.
